POSITION: 

INDEPENDENT CHAIRPERSON: CHIEF OFFICER ADVISORY COUNCIL (COAC)

COUNTRY FIRE SERVICE VOLUNTEER ASSOCIATION (CFSVA) NOMINATION

TIME COMMITMENT:

COAC meets bi-monthly on the 2nd Monday of of month from 9:00am- 3:00pm at CFS State Headquarters. 

The Chairperson will also be required to make some time available to prepare for the meeting, discuss agendas and other business with the COAC Executive Officer outside of scheduled meetings. This is usually managed through emails or phone calls.

 

This position is on a Voluntary Basis (no remuneration is offered). 

A travel allowance may be offered.

Chief Officer’s Advisory Council is significant in that it makes recommendations to the CFS Chief Officer and provides a consultative forum between the Regional Volunteer Management Committees (RVMCs), the CFS Executive Leadership Group (ELG) and the CFS Chief Officer in relation to operational and physical resource management within regions.

 

The CFSVA is currently seeking expressions of interests from registered CFS volunteers for the position of Independent Chairperson to the Chief Officer’s Advisory Council (COAC).

 

The COAC Chairperson is expected to be available to Chair COAC meetings and ensure that meeting procedures and practices are followed and managed in an efficient and effective manner. 

Executive and Secretarial support to the Chair is provided by CFS.

 

It must be made clear that it is the COAC Chairperson’s role to manage the meeting and not to influence the outcomes of the meeting.

The position is offered for a two (2) year term with the possibility of extension for a further two (2) years.

 

It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have good knowledge of meeting procedures and experience in Chairing meetings.  A good knowledge of CFS operational activities and operational structure would be advantageous.

 

It is imperative that the COAC Chair supports and upholds the strong values of the CFS and the CFSVA.
